As a former developer, I agree there is still some human curation for sure, which would be necessary to tweak the bots. If I had to take a wild guess, I’d guess curation is 80% bot and 20% human nowaways.

The slow scroll is a good idea, and I try to do that when I can. Don’t know how easy it would be to teach to a community.
