When Covert Narcissists Do a Complete 180

Watch out for Jekyll-and-Hyde behavior

In 2015, I didn’t know what a narcissist was. So I was blindsided by what happened.

I thought a narcissist was someone who was vain, someone who preened in front of the mirror all the time.

Self-absorbed… or OTHER-absorbed?

If you think narcissists are obsessed with themselves, you miss the point.

They are obsessed with comparing themselves to others. And the comparison must always be favorable.

The word “than” is of key importance to narcissists.

They need to feel more successful than that guy over there.

They need to be seen as more attractive than she is.

They crave validation that they’re smarter than you are.

If they feel a group of people is better than they are in some way, they strive to become a part of that group.

Than, than, than.

No wonder they can never be happy.

So, as I said earlier, in 2015. I had no idea what a narcissist was. All I knew was that this pretty lady, a real Southern belle/classic girl-next-door type, had been showing up at my favorite places, striking up…
